Aviation - In my future?

Haven't written a post on aviation since 1/16/2007. That's an indicator of where I've been engaged with it. As with most general aviation pilots, I live in a single-aviation-enthusiast household. Because of that, I typically put other stuff in front of my passion for flying. I know I could push more, but it's had to rationalize a hobby that costs so much, takes significant time from other activities, and you're the only family member that really has the interest.
Most pilots would own an airplane if their significant other had the interest in flying. Aircraft are not that expensive to purchase compared to fancy cars (like BMWs). The upkeep and parking is a little costly, but again, with interest it would not be that bad for a middle income household.
I'm getting older and the opportunity to continue flying deminishes each day. I've thought of building a plane to keep costs down but I don't want to make it; I want to fly it. The passion is for the freedom of spirit found soaring through a unique world.
In closing and before I go get some cheese to go with my "wine", I want to show one of my favorite planes. It is a beautiful example of a Rand Robinson KR2; likely, it was the oldest flying of it's model. I had the opportunity to purchase this aircraft but couldn't make it happen. Unfortunately, in September 2009 the person that did purchase it had a mishap and it is likely gone now. The pilot was injured but should recover competely from reasonably minor injuries - which is good!
Happy Flyin!
Ben
