There is a new Modern Renaissance Man Mobile.

After beating up the direction to take concerning the old TMRM Mobile, an "Aussie" Capri, the decision was made when a same year and model was found in Huntersville, NC. Except for the color, it is the same 1993 version of the original TMRM Aussie.

What will make this the new "mobile", is the work required to bring it up to a quality TMRM state. The car was purchased for a very good price; however, that means it has a lot of work to do. Neither of the windows work, there is lots of broken plastics and handles, a front-end axle or bearing is roaring, some minor oil leakage, and other stuff. Also, there is an add-on spoiler that may disappear at some point since it weighs so much that the trunk will not stay open.

Of funny note, the previous owner wanted a dual exhaust look, so they actually bolted a fake exhaust pipe on the opposite side of the working pipe. Looks good, but... with all the broken pieces, I think I'd spent more time fixing the stuff than adding esthetics of that nature.  <grin>

Anyway, the key reason for purchasing this new version of the TMRM mobile is that the old "mobile" is still sitting in the drive way and is "eager" to donate parts to make ONE really nice car. So, to get the new Aussie all corrected, it may have to undergo a period of multi-color parts, i.e., green doors and maybe a green hood. It may be much easier to just swap doors than to try to fix the broken power window regulators. Of course, this will wreck havoc with my vanity - but for the price, I will work to get over it. Also, Doran Snow, TMRM musical co-host, has a professional talent for painting cars - so, maybe I can coerce him into stripping and painting.

I included pictures - it looks better in the picture than up close. My significant other says I'm just a car snob - NEVER !! For the price and the return to better gas mileage, I'll take on the project and (try) to put my vanity (not snobbishness) aside. <grin>

Stay tuned - there will likely be video of this project on future TMRM shows.

      TMRM,
Nice ride! Looks like a dual racing stripe to go with the dual exhaust. Best of luck with the project.

      Happy Thanskgiving too. Bug
