In a recent statement, The Modern Renaissance Man, Ben Copeland, says he is not ready to announce his candidacy for President of the United States in 2008. While under great pressure by the recent announcements of Hillary Rodham-Clinton, John Edwards, Joseph Bidden, and others, Copeland says he cannot commit to running until further investigation into the seriousness of his supporters, including his best friend and wife, Jennifer Sanders.
Some say Copeland may have been approached as far back as October 2006 as a potential candidate after revealing his programs for a Federal Lottery, the Lost Opportunities for Surviving Soldiers, Nationalized Medical and Dental Services, Capital Punishment for Child Abusers, and the conditional elimination of home property tax for elderly home owners. Additionally, it has been said that with his eclectic background and diverse interpersonal relationships, Copeland is better suited for this political position than most candidates who have lost touch with the common folk (i.e., non-rich).
It has been said that Copeland may already have in-roads with the current administration with their recognition of his credentials as a television producer, creator, and host. It is known that in 2006, President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush sent him their best wishes for success via a letter from the Whitehouse. The President and First Lady had been unable to attend the anniversary of Copeland’s television program and the letter included their regrets.
An anonymous source says that the key issue with Copeland's decision will be the financial impacts of buying all the pizza for all the necessary volunteers. If the pizza can be financed for under $100 per month, then Copeland's Financial Manager may give the green light to move forward with the campaign. The source also said Copeland is concerned about only having a week vacation in 2007 and 2008 to travel around the country campaigning. However, some say, Copeland is more than able to conduct a successful virtual [Internet] campaign via his dial-up home computer.
It has been reported that Copeland may make the announcement during one of his twice monthly television broadcasts airing the third week in February or a show airing in March. Currently, The Modern Renaissance Man television show airs the first and third Friday of each month at 8:30 p.m. on Mecklenburg cable access television channel 21.
